1 Information We Collect

When you create an account on Crankin, we collect your email address, username, and any profile information you choose to provide such as your bio, location, and profile picture.

Crankin also stores photos you upload, including profile pictures, post images, and photos you attach to catches. If you enable notifications, we store a push notification token for your device so we can deliver alerts.

2 Location Information

When you start a trip, Crankin collects your precise location to record your route, map where you log catches, and calculate trip statistics such as distance and duration. Location collection continues in the background while a trip is active, so tracking keeps working when your screen is locked or the app is not in the foreground. Location is only collected while a trip is running — starting and ending a trip is always your choice.

Your recorded routes and catch locations are stored with your trip. Each trip has its own visibility setting that you control: trips set to private are visible only to you, and trips you choose to share publicly may show your route and catch locations to other Crankin users. You can change a trip's visibility at any time.

You can revoke location access at any time in your device settings. Doing so stops trip tracking, and Crankin will notify you if it loses location access during an active trip.

3 How We Use Your Information

We use your information to provide and improve the Crankin platform, send you account-related emails, and connect you with other anglers in the community.

4 Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. Your public profile information such as your username, bio, and posts are visible to other Crankin users.

5 Third Party Services

Crankin uses third party services including Supabase for database and authentication, and Resend for email delivery. When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive basic profile information from those platforms.

6 Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account and associated data at any time using the steps in the section below.

7 Deleting Your Account and Data

You can delete your Crankin account at any time from inside the app. Open your profile, tap the menu in the top right, select Settings, then select Delete Account and confirm.

Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, posts, comments, trips, catches, routes, photos, messages, and community memberships. This cannot be undone.

If you are unable to access the app and need your account deleted, email us at crankinapp@gmail.com from the address associated with your account and we will process the request.
